Most newer engine and transmission computers are locked from the factory. Your tuning software can read them but can't write a tune. Ship us the module and we send it back unlocked, ready for HP Tuners, EFILive or whatever your tuner uses.
Why your computer is locked
Starting around 2015 to 2017, carmakers added security to most engine and transmission computers. You can still read the module, but it won't accept a new calibration until it's unlocked. That's why your tuner may have told you to send it out first.
Works with the software your tuner uses
Tell us what your tuner works with when you start your order: HP Tuners VCM Suite, EFILive or another platform. Each one unlocks controllers its own way. Some we unlock on our bench. Others go through the software maker's official unlock or upgrade program, and we handle that for you. Your quote says which, and lists any vendor fee.

An unlock doesn't change how the vehicle runs. Your tuner writes the calibration. Tuning shops: we work for you and never contact your customer.
Emissions
Unlocks are for emissions-legal tuning and for off-road or competition vehicles where that's allowed. We don't write delete tunes, and we don't disable emissions equipment.

Common questions
Which tuning software do you support?
We unlock modules for HP Tuners VCM Suite, EFILive and other common platforms. Tell us which one when you order, since each unlocks differently.
Do I still need HP Tuners credits?
Yes. An unlock lets the tuning software write to the module. It doesn't license the vehicle. Your tuner still buys credits or a license in their software as usual.
Can you unlock a used module and set it up for my vehicle?
Yes, if you send your original with it. We clone your original into the used module and unlock it in the same job. Without the original, setup usually needs the vehicle, so email us first.
Why is the price “from”?
Every controller needs a different process, and some go through the software maker's paid unlock program. We quote your exact price before you ship.
Do you do delete tunes?
No. We don't do emissions-defeat programming, and we don't unlock modules for that purpose.
Are you part of HP Tuners or EFILive?
No. We're an independent ASE-certified shop. We unlock and program modules so they work with the tuning software you already use.

Send the original if you have it. With your original and the replacement together, most modules can be cloned plug-and-play on our bench. If the original is gone, mail-in programming is available on supported applications, but some setups (security, immobilizer or network initialization) have to be finished with the vehicle present. We'll tell you before you ship.
